Java Jazz Festival Jakarta 2015

As promised I hereby show you my photo impression from the Java Jazz Festival last weekend.

We did not see all the musicians as there were around 142 artists performing.

We loved to see and hear Chaka Khan, Oleta Adams, Michael Lington, Bobbi McFerrin, Courtney Pine, Snarky Puppy, Incognito, Meshel Ndegeocello, Kenny Latimore, Naturally 7 and lots more amazing artists, just too many to mention all here…

Any way we had a great time and we looking forward going again next year!

Rio Sidik Quartet at Java Jazz Festival 2015

Last weekend we went with our friends Ad and Brenda to Jakarta for Java Jazz Festival.

It was my first time and it was great.

A huge venue with lots of different stages. Very well organized and very crowded too. Lots of young people.

The artists were amazing. Around 142 foreign and local artists.  Well known artists like Chaka Khan, Oleta Adams, Bobbi Mcferrin, Chris Botti and lots more. Also artists I didn’t know before but also very good, we loved it.

I love to show all my photos from Java Jazz Festival  but will start to put in the spotlights a very good local Jazz band from Bali. Rio Sidik – trumpet, Erik Sondhy – piano, Ito Kurdhin – electric bass and Edy Siswanto – drums.

In Bali we go and watch them often in Ryoshi house of Jazz. If you are in Bali don’t miss to see this amazing Jazz band. You will love it!

Ubud Village Jazz Festival 2014

Our friends living in East Bali asked if we would like to join them to Ubud Village Jazz Festival 2014. Because we love Jazz music very much we decided to go with them.

It was the 2nd UVJF and the location was again at the Arma resort & museum. It’s an amazingly, beautiful venue.

The UVJF lasted two days. At the festival were 3 stages on which 100 musicians played their jazz tunes. Two music clinics, several food and drink, clothing, music cd’s and music instrument booths.

We were very exited because for us was it the first time we visited a Jazz festival in Ubud. Most of the artist we didn’t know but we loved the idea to see and hear Jazz music performed by international musicians from over 8 countries, including some brilliant (young) Indonesian talents as well as some Dutch musicians.

We had a great time. The weather, food and drinks were great, but most importantly there was excellent jazz music that we enjoyed together with our friends.

A wonderful experience and we are definitely going again next year.

Mister & Mississippi

I am in Amsterdam at the moment. My home town in Holland. A few times a year I go back to Amsterdam to see family and friends. I love Bali but I love Amsterdam too. Amsterdam is a great city, the museums, the galleries, the Vondelpark, the fresh weather for running in the park,  the canals, the trendy restaurants, cycling through the city, the 9-straatjes and lots more…

Last Friday I visited my Indonesian friend  Brenda, she celebrated her birthday. She lives in Amsterdam but also loves Bali a lot…  Her daughter Maxime sings and plays in a band, called Mister & Mississippi, an upcoming band, very talented…. As surprise for her mother’s birthday  she gave  a living room concert. It was brilliant, very special.

Brenda was so proud of her daughter, she loved the surprise and so did all the people at Brenda’s birthday party.  It was a great party, with good drinks, food, friends and very good music.

When you visit you will find videos from Mister & Mississippi, of their concerts and you can listen to their beautiful music.

The week before I went with my other Indonesian friend Jozey to INDOmania. INDOania was held in the well known pop temple, Melkweg downtown Amsterdam.

INDOmania and Melkweg presented for the first time a major Indonesian event with performances, literature, film, fine arts and music, both modern music as well as music from the good old days. It was an event for young and old..

The event started at 2pm but unfortunately we had no time to go during the day so we went in the evening to see several bands perform.

We had a very good time, drinking, dancing and listen to the music, we stayed till the end…
