Sunday brunch

Because of my birthday we had a brunch at Hotel W restaurant Starfish Bloo. A cool restaurant on the beach. The decor, the furniture and the ambience is fantastic. Try and get a ‘bird cage’ to sit in.

The buffet offers a delicious Western/Asian selection of food like, Italian pasta’s, Japanese sushi’s, Mexican taco’s , Chinese dim sum, of course Indonesian food, great desserts, lovely juices, cocktails and lots more…

A great location to have a culinary birthday treat, but also when it’s not your birthday…

La Plancha coolest lounge spot in Bali

Just 7 minutes walk from our villa to beach hot spot La Plancha. With your feet in the sand, a cool Sangria or Bintang in your hand, Spanish tapa’s in front of you, alone, with your lover, kids, dog(s), family or friends…  La Plancha is the lounge place to be to enjoy Bali’s beautiful sunsets….

Once a month on Friday night is La Plancha’s beach party night. Don’t miss it if you are in Seminyak, good music, always great fun..  La Barca, family of La Plancha is also a cool place for sunset, drinks and food…La Barca is located at Beach Batu Belig.

Products, beautiful and funny

In Bali you see loads of different creative products, hip and trendy, modern and traditional, beautiful and funny…

The design of this coffee cup and saucer is beautiful. The little spoon on top of the edge and the holes, specially made for little cookies…

I have a fly in my drink can’t happen with the crochet lid on top of your glass. The crochet coaster matches with the crochet lid, it’s funny but also stylish….

Yoga.. bliss yourself out..

Actually…I’m not into yoga. Maybe I’m not totally in balance but I’m a happy person, and that’s what counts, right?..

I have family and friends who love yoga, they tell me their yoga experiences.  If they stay in Seminyak they go to Desa Seni. An eco-friendly village resort in Canggu, close to Seminyak. Desa Seni provides an authentic Indonesian experience of culture, art, yoga, organic farming and complete wellness. Sometimes I go with them because it is an amazing place. The atmosphere is great,  just to sit, to read or strolling around the premises is already enough for me to feel good…

Another favourite yoga place in Seminyak is Prana. The building has strong influences of Indian & Middle Eastern exotique architecture. Prana is one of the largest spas on the island of Bali.

Every day at 12pm Pranah offers a spa tour with a complimentary glass of sparkling rose..and every Tuesday and Thursday Prana runs a make-up workshop.

And of course in Ubud there are several very good yoga places,  like the Yogabarn, Fivelements etc. I never been to these places so I plan to visit one of these days, I keep you posted…

Coffee for the rich..

In Bali they make Luwak coffee. Several times I heard how they make the coffee. My first reaction was bah.. I will never drink that stuff and… so much money…! One day I visited a special coffee store, they sell different kind of coffees and of course also Luwak coffee.  Because I’m a curious person I tasted the Luwak coffee. I must confess, Luwak coffee is very tasteful. Still expensive though… but it’s a nice gift for the real coffee lover…

Ogoh Ogoh and Nyepi day

Yesterday was Nyepi day. The day of silent reflection and respect to the gods and spirits that inhabit the world. It’s also the start of the Balinese New Year, now 1934!

The only sound I heard was the sea, the wind, the rain and birds. Even the dogs were still…

The day before Nyepi day a big Ogoh Ogoh parade took place at Jl. Raya Seminyak. Ogoh Ogoh are statues built for the Ngrupuk parade. Men carried the big statues and boys the smaller ones.

An explanation of Ogoh Ogoh and Nyepi day you can read on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogoh-ogoh

It is very  interesting to know….

So cool to make your own perfume…

Last year I followed a workshop create your own perfume at “L’Atelier Parfums et Créations”.

You can follow a 90 mins or 3 hrs workshop. I did the 3 hrs workshop because I also wanted to know the complete story about making perfume. The ingredients, were it grows etc.   I didn’t know that Indonesia is one of the biggest producers of raw ingredients used by the perfumery industry. Brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Dior and Jean-Paul Gautier use the finest Indonesian essences in their perfumes…

Red Carpet Boutique

I got an invite for a sensual fashion show in the Red Carpet Champagne bar for last Wednesday. It was the grand opening of the Red Carpet Boutique.  Of course I wanted to see that..  I planned to make some photo’s for the weblog, very exciting…  because I didn’t shoot a fashion show before. It was crowded in the Red Carpet and the atmosphere was great. The canapé’s they served were yummi and the models looked stunning…

If you are in Seminyak, don’t miss this exciting place. http://www.redcarpetchampagnebar.com and buy some exiting lingerie in the Red Carpet Boutique…
